We're excited to announce a leap forward in how you interact with our docs and discover valuable information. We've been working diligently to integrate WP Engine's AI Toolkit to deliver a more intuitive, efficient, and developer-friendly experience. Our goal was to make it easier for you to find helpful content, resolve problems, and build headless WordPress sites using Faust.js.

What’s Old?

Before we get into the new improvements, a quick review of the previous status quo. The Faust site received a significant revamp at the beginning of 2025. Part of the rebuild was replacing Algolia search with WP Engine’s Smart Search. The Smart Search plugin would index all WordPress content out of the box. However, as noted then, we moved our docs out of WordPress to markdown files in the Faust.js Github repo.

Using Smart Search’s index API, we were also able to index those markdown docs. The search API enabled full-text search with fuzziness, which provided a simple and straightforward way for developers to find answers across our docs and blog.
